Our friends from Charity Challenge Luxembourg who have travelled on 2 scooters and a van more than 2800 km from Luxembourg to Lechaina visited the institution on Monday the 1st of August. They have been warmly welcomed by the staff of the institution and the team of the Child Health Institute Athens/Lumos that have just started to work there.
The 4 members of Charity Challenge Luxembourg have been visiting all the children and young people and made a connection to some of them. Most of the residents were very happy to see new people and also the scooters have found an admirer amongst the residents.
Charity Challenge Luxembourg raised 15.000 Euro which will be used to
fund projects that aim to raise the quality of life for the residents.
In a first project carried out by EEDA the nurses will be supported in
learning healthy lifting techniques as well as individual assessment and
care planning. Charity Challenge also donated therapeutic toys and the
two scooters who have been serviced just before their arrival to the
volunteers of the instution.
In the evening the team of Charity Challenge Luxembourg presented
informations about their trip and thier fundraising in the cinema
"Astron" in Lechaina to an interested audiance from the village. They
have left a very postitive impression and a lot of postitive vibes.
After the presentation of the team a vivid discussion about volunteerism
developed amongst the audience. The people from Lechaina discussed
about what they could do to help the residents of KEPEP!
